The treatment of periodontitis is a complex process that can last for many years. Successful management of this common inflammatory condition necessitates team work by the patient and dentist. In the treatment of non-surgical periodontal therapy the laser is a tool that does not replace traditional methods, but used with appropriate protocols, can offer additional benefits.
Laser treatment ensures that no tissue is subtracted or gum tissue is reduced to a lower level on purpose. It also stimulates stem cells in the tissues to form new connective tissues, bone, and collagen.

About Prof. Caccianiga
Gianluigi Caccianiga graduated in July1988 at the school of Dentistry at the University of Milan. He specialized in 1994 in Orthodontics at the University of Milan. From 1994 to 1996 Tutor in Orthodontics for the Degree Course in Dentistry and Prosthodontics at the University of Milan, carrying out teaching and research. In 1996 he achieved a PhD in implant dentistry at the University of Milan. Professor and teaching assistant for the course of Orthodontics and Periodontics for the Degree Course in Dentistry and Prosthodontics at the University of Milan.
